Stabszelts and other Purpose-Built Zelts
In addition to the common triangular Zelt panels, the German military used a number of purpose-built tents for command, medical, and other purposes. The wall tent style was called the Stabszelt and it existed in at least two sizes. These were often painted in a camouflage pattern, though plain ones also existed. Some of these were fitted with stove pipe jacks and all had windows. The other style of zelt seems to be mostly used for medical and command purposes where large numbers of men or materiel needed to be protected from the elements. A Large and a small tent of the wall style with a very low roof also seems to have been employed in desert warfare and a number of foreign tents were also used.
These photographs were taken from a number of books, online sources, and auction sites. They are presented here for educational purposes.
