Serving food

Soldiers were issued hot food from the field kitchen as often as it was practical. The German army philosophy was that every soldier should eat a hot meal daily except under the most extreme conditions. Germans were used to lining up and getting their food served to them as a matter of routine. Hurry up and wait...
